In honour of Bob Dylan’s 50th anniversary as a recording artist, Sony Music is asking his fans to pay tribute to him by recreating the concept behind his iconic clip for “Subterranean Homesick Blues.”
Forty-five years ago, the world’s first ever lyric video appeared in the documentary film about Dylan titled Don’t Look Back. Using that as an example, fans have been asked to submit photos of themselves holding white signs with their favourite lyric from Dylan’s first single, or inspiring photos superimposed with their favourite lyric from “Duquesne Whistle,” off his stellar new album, Tempest.
The lyrics for “Duquesne Whistle” can be found on MetroLyrics here.
Fans from around the world can submit photos via Instagram by tagging #DylanLyricPhotos. Submissions will be accepted until Sunday, October 7th at midnight. The best photos will be featured in the official lyric video for “Duquesne Whistle,” which will premiere exclusively on MetroLyrics on October 16, 2012. Please note, only Canadian residents (excluding Quebec) are eligible to enter the contest to win the Sony Cyber-shot Digital Camera TX20.
