The Jayhawks would eventually grow to legendary status in the alt.country world however on this, their 1986 debut (known as “The Bunkhouse Record”), we merely get a glimpse of the promise that would lay ahead. Channelling Dylan and other folk legends with a distinctly more country twang than their future work would prove to be, this is the first time that the record (out of print for nearly 25 years) has appeared on CD. Frankly, it is the calibre of record that usually takes bands three to four records to nail, let alone do it on their debut. Highlights include Tried and True, The Liquor Store Came First and Behind Bars.
