It has been rather interesting to see how New Jersey band The Gaslight Anthem has matured over the course of their last couple of records. With each new offering, it seems as though the band sheds another skin of their punk-ish beginnings while embracing more of a direct rock n roll approach in the vein of masters like Bruce Springsteen. Nowhere is this more evident than on tracks like first single 45, Keepsake and the title track. With Handwritten, The Gaslight Anthem might find the years of earning critical acclaim just might finally translate to commercial success.
