Combining the perceived cockiness of Supergrass and the Kasier Chiefs and throwing in a passion for pop melodies, Calgary’s The Fast Romantics find a winning formula that works on their self-titled record. And though you won’t hear either of the aforementioned bands anywhere on the radio around these parts (except perhaps on the CBC), The Fast Romantics manage to strike that balance of musical uniqueness with unlimited commercial potential.
Highlights include the Iggy Pop influenced “Moneymouth”, “Stop Me” and “Spooning The Gorilla”.
The Fast Romantics could be absolutely huge. Don’t be surprised if the UK catches onto these guys before North Americans do.
