Fronted by Posies member Ken Stringfellow, The Disciplines tend to walk lines that Stringfellow does not necessarily explore within the confines of The Posies. There are pop elements to many of the dozen tracks included on tracks like Kill The Killjoy, elements of garage-rock and punk are the more dominant genres. The songs Strange One and Fate’s A Strong Bitch both seamlessly tap into the frenetic-paced energy of The Hives while on tracks like For You I Walked Over The Line and Emily, the band’s energy is much more deliberate and precise. Virgins of Menace proves to be a wild yet incredibly cohesive and addictive record that should help the group reach greater heights in no time.
