Teaming up with Contemporary Christian artists such as Jars of Clay and Randy Travis along with others including Ben Harper, Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi, Duets compiles songs recorded by these artists alongside the legendary Blind Boys Of Alabama.
With three previously unreleased songs where the vocal group collaborates with Lou Reed (Jesus), Toots Hibert (Perfect Piece) and John Hammond (One Kind Favor), each of these songs have appeared on various albums over the past six years. The only exception to this is the Richard Thompson penned When The Spell Is Broken, from a 1994 Thompson tribute record.
Although the Blind Boys’ role on this record is diminished to allow their guests primary billing, it is hard not to feel the soulfulness which the group injects into songs such as Take My Hand, Secular Praise and Nothing But The Blood.
