Twenty-some years into their career, Toronto roots-rock institution Skydiggers continue to amaze and delight. In listening to Northern Shore, their first studio album in approximately four years, it is clear that the band is more than willing to branch out beyond the folk-roots-rock sound for which they are perhaps best known. After the accordion infused opening track Waves, the band veers between delivering songs you would expect to hear (Barely Made It Through, Falling With The Stars) while still instilling a sense of spontaneity into their songs that keeps the album rolling along rather nicely.
