Neither of Sheryl Crow’s last two studio records have stood the test of time the way her earlier material has. With each new effort, I secretly hope that she has rediscovered the “winning formula” that propelled so many songs into the public forum. While writing short, concise songs doesn’t seem to be on the menu this time around (almost half the tracks are at least five minutes long), there are more than a few memorable moments to be found: the horn-infused Our Love Is Fading is fantastic, as are the lazy feel of Summer Day and the soulful Say What You Want.
