Over a rather fruitful past two decades, critically adored, experimental-rock band Wilco has been at the forefront of some of modern music’s most compelling soundscapes. Over the course of four discs, Alpha Mike Foxtrot… gathers an impressive 77-track collection of B-Sides, demos, cover songs and live tracks that, in many cases, features what could have been A-list material. Among the many highlights is the softly sung “One True Vine,” a beautiful collaboration on The Band’s “I Shall Be Released” with Fleet Foxes, an utterly heartbreaking take on Big Star’s “Thirteen,” and “Kicking Television” before the collection wraps up with a spectacular cover of Nick Lowe’s “I Love My Label.”
