Review: Weezer – Everything Will Be Alright In The End (Universal Music Canada)

WeezerAfter having almost painfully endured their last few full-length duds, my expectations for the new Weezer album were perhaps the lowest they have ever been. The first glimmer of hope came in the form of producer Ric Ocasek, the man behind what is arguably the best work of their career. Thankfully, Ocasek brought the band back to their roots, meaning the group is once again focused on writing hook-infused pop songs chalk full of big choruses worthy of an arena-sized singalong. The latter is probably best exemplified on “Lonely Girl” but “Foolish Father,” “Go Away” and album opener “Ain’t Got Nobody” each stand as perhaps the most definitive examples that Weezer can still write a killer pop song.
