Though you might not recognize Thomas D’Arcy’s name, you might have heard his music through a 2012 ad campaign for Telus. Taking its inspiration from classic and modern pop music, Fooled You Twice is D’Arcy’s sophomore solo release. The album kicks off with the meditative “Maybe I’m Wrong” (think John Lennon’s “Mother” minus the dramatics) before picking up the pace with the cheerful first single “All Over Your Face,” “If It Feels Alright” and “My Friends Are The Best.” Whether mainstream success will greet him with Fooled You Twice is an entirely different question, D’Arcy’s ability to naturally craft memorable songs must surely be a sore spot to lesser songwriters.
