Taking their name from the infamous drinking club that Alice Cooper formed with John Lennon, Harry Nilsson, Keith Moon, and Ringo Starr at the Los Angeles’ Rainbow Bar and Grill in the 70s, The Hollywood Vampires is a modern-day supergroup consisting of Cooper, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry and actor Johnny Depp along with guests including AC/DC’s Brian Johnson, Paul McCartney, Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and others. With the exception of two original tracks – “My Dead Drunk Friends” and “Raise The Dead” – the Vamps indulge in an otherwise exclusive collection of covers including The Who’s “My Generation,” John Lennon’s “Cold Turkey,” Jimi Hendrix’s “Manic Depression,” and Badfinger’s “Come And Get It,” among others. While hardly an essential collection of music, there is still some delight to be found in their breathing new life into some of these songs.
