Over the last two decades, Old 97’s have become one of groups most synonymous with the alt-country movement, packing an energy and enthusiasm in their music not easily replicated. Reissued late last year, Hitchhike To Rhome was the group’s independently released debut album, yet bears all of the hallmarks of what fans have come to love about the band: A lively country hybrid appreciated by folk and country fans alike. This two-CD edition features a wealth of bonus material including previously unreleased demo versions of select tracks as well as a host of b-sides that did not make the original release of Hitchhike To Rhome. All in all, it makes for a fond look back at one of the genre’s best groups.
