If you can imagine a musical cross between the more countrified moments of Blue Rodeo and the psychedelic country of The Sadies, you will have an appreciation for where Andy Bishop’s White Ash Falls are rooted. Bishop effortlessly fuses gospel, country and roots-rock into a potent mixture that results in practically zero filler to be heard on Over The Night, his second record. On I Have Been Received, he proves that he can musically indulge himself while still keeping the listener engaged. And though songs like When She Rides and Want It Bad are a little more straightforward, there is little doubt that Bishop knows his way around a song.
