Review Of The Perms – The Aberdeen EP (Independent)

The PermsOwing a debt to the likes of the Gigolo Aunts, Sloan and Redd Kross, Winnipeg, Manitoba’s power pop sweethearts The Perms are in fine form with their latest release, The Aberdeen EP. Rather than trying to reinvent the wheel, the group wisely sticks with what they know, allowing their tight, guitar-driven pop melodies to shine through on each of the EP’s four songs. A terrific collection of new pop anthems, catchy refrains are in abundance on The Parent Thing while the fuzzed-out guitar tones and backing vocals on It’s Mania are simply glorious.
