The Hold Steady is one of America’s finest rock bands at the moment, specializing in big, fat guitar-rock anthems. Fortunately, the group’s sixth studio record, Teeth Dreams, is chalk full of them: Spinners, Wait A While and On With The Business all radiate the energy that fans have come to love from the band. And while I am all for groups not being so one dimensional, Teeth Dreams ballads The Ambassador and Almost Everything nearly kill the record’s momentum. But when The Hold Steady is good, they are very good. That’s the important thing.
