The Flaming Lips have never really been a happy-go-lucky kind of band. Past efforts have had some optimism to them however, more often than not, there has consistently been a dark undercurrent to their work. Nowhere is this perhaps more evident than on the appropriately named The Terror. Reportedly recorded amidst upheavals in a couple of the band members personal lives, the despair and hopeless experimental dream pop heard throughout this record is perhaps to be expected. What isn’t expected however is how fascinating it is to be brought into this dark world.
