In listening to the newest record from Toronto indie-rock group The Darcys, there are times where the record walks a fine line of being too complex for its own good. The great news is that the record never gets mired in such complexity. The Darcys are just so darn effective at layering their songs with multiple textures, they still manage to give each instrument plenty of room to breathe. As the record progresses and ultimately closes, it becomes clear that despite Warring offering such dark, rich textures and tones, it is done in such a concise manner that you can’t help but be drawn in.
