Based on the buzz generated by their debut release a couple of years back, expectations were running high for the latest full-length record from Toronto rock trio The Balconies. And for the most part, the group has managed to mature and refine their sound with sacrificing any of the attitude along the way. At the same token, The Balconies remain acutely aware that it’s rock n roll, not rocket science. They excel at keeping their sound streamlined, ensuring that their bare bones rock shines through on virtually the whole record but especially on songs like Boys & Girls, The Slo and Beating Your Heart.
