Switchfoot have been nothing but consistent in the 11 years since their breakthrough record The Beautiful Letdown. In the seemingly never-ending quest to musically further themselves, the group takes some delightful left turns on Fading West. On songs like Who We Are and Let It Out, the group incorporates hints of electronic music, turning in a couple of rather pop-oriented songs. The pop direction doesn’t always work for the group (Slipping Away, for instance) but with opening track Love Alone Is Worth The Fight and Saltwater Heart, the group delivers on what fans have come to expect from the rock band.
