Review of Rosanne Cash – The River & The Thread (Universal Music Canada)

Rosanne CashThe first studio record since her triumphant 2009 record The List, Rosanne Cash does not disappoint with The River & The Thread. A sentimental, contemplative effort inspired by Southern US people and places, the pictures that Rosanne paints with her words are vivid, timeless and occasionally haunting.  The music itself is the perfect accompaniment to the lyrics, a mixture of blues, roots and some gospel music thrown in for good measure. A solid effort from front-to-back, album highlights include A Feather’s Not A Bird, When The Master Calls The Roll and the simply arranged Tell Heaven.
