Considered by some to be one of Queen’s unsung heroes, drummer Roger Taylor is no stranger to the solo arena, having released four prior solo efforts, the first of which dates back to 1981. Kicking off with the gritty One Night Stand, the problem with Fun On Earth is that the record never really capitalizes on the momentum of that opening track. While there are occasional signs of promise (such as the track Up), Taylor opting to pursue musical whims through other genres sounds more like misguided musical detours than anything else.
