Review of Pearl Jam – Lightning Bolt (Universal Music Canada)

Pearl JamAs one of only a handful of grunge-era bands still standing, Pearl Jam have practically earned the right to do whatever the hell they want with their records. Fortunately for fans, the group delivers a 12-song collection that draws upon sentimentality while also moving the group forward. Songs like Sirens and the spacey Pendulum each sound as though they could have been at home on either of the band’s first two records while the guitar-heavy grooves the group delivers in Mind Your Manners and opening track Getaway lets listeners know that there is plenty of piss left in the Pearl Jam tank yet.
