If the outpouring of grief after his passing last year wasn’t quite enough, some of Levon’s biggest admirers gathered in New jersey last October to pay tribute to the musician with the Love For Levon. Gregg Allman, Warren Haynes, John Hiatt, Lucinda Williams and Joe Walsh are among the guests featured on the album, delivering Band tracks like Rag Mama Rag, Whispering Pines and The Shape I’m In rather well. The show closing rendition of The Weight by all of the show’s performers is surely one of the most powerful versions of the song ever recorded.
