One of America’s arguably most under-rated acts, Los Lobos trade their electric guitars for acoustic ones on Disconnected In New York City. Their ability to seamlessly meld so many different styles of music together (Spanish, folk, blues, rock, etc) is virtually unrivalled in music today. The group, celebrating their 40th anniversary, sounds as vibrant and essential as ever here. They touch on a number of tracks from some of their most recent studio efforts such as 2010’s Tin Can Trust and Chuco’s Cumbia from 2006 while also reaching back to their commercial heyday of 1987 with La Bamba and Set Me Free (Rosa Lee).
