Review of Jenny Lewis – The Voyager (Warner Music Canada)

Jenny LewisArriving a long six years since her last solo effort, Jenny Lewis’ The Voyager is a perfectly executed throwback to Rumours-era Fleetwood Mac. Boasting a poppy disposition worthy of sunny Southern California, the sound of the record isn’t the only nostalgic aspect: She ruminates on former loves on “She’s Not Me,” contemplating her mortality on “Head Underwater,” while examining the lives of others on “Late Bloomer.” Contrary to the belief that the record wallows in misery, The Voyager is perhaps the most compelling, infectious mid-life crisis that you could treat your ears to.
