What sophomore jinx? Coming just a little over a year after his self-titled debut made a rather big impression on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, Jake Bugg embraces more of an electric direction for Shangri La. Although the Bob Dylan comparisons relating to Bugg’s sound and potential career trajectory (ie: acoustic to electric) are bound to pop up, Bugg hasn’t completely abandoned his folk roots. The rapid fire rhymes of There’s A Beast And We All Feed It and Messed Up Kids nod to the past while Slumville Sunrise and Kingpin rock with a fun kind of abandon.
