The newest album from New York City indie rockers Caveman seems to draw from a few different sources of inspiration. The group stays primarily focused on mixing psych-rock, space-rock (think Spiritualized) with shoegaze acts, which ultimately creates a dreamy soundscape for the listener to get lost in. Caveman vocalist Matthew Iwanusa’s voice is well suited to the group, never seeking to overpower the music itself. When it works, tracks like Over My Head and Never Want To Know hint at a musical brilliance that could be a sign of bigger things to come for Caveman.
