The United Kingdom’s Band of Skulls has been one of my favourite new rock bands since their 2009 debut effort. Himalayan, their third full-length record, sees the group continue expanding upon their bluesy rock and roll sound, this time around leaning towards mid to late-era Led Zeppelin. The title track has a kind of Physical Graffiti-esque swagger while Asleep At The Wheel and I Guess I Know You Very Well each boast some loud, meaty guitars. Compared to their previous records, Himalayan is arguably their most restrained in terms of flat-out rock and roll but it is a suit that fits the trio well nonetheless.
