One of the first musical references that came to mind in listening to the solo debut from Miike Snow’s Andrew Wyatt was The Zombies. Recorded with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, there is, like The Zombies before him, a distinctly lush, chamber pop undertow on many of these songs. Tracks like Harlem Boyzz and Cluster Subs exemplify this well. She’s Changed eventually delves into a pseudo psychedelic vibe while album opener Horse Latitudes recalls XTC. Descender is a mixed bag of music but a welcome one to be sure.
