Recorded over two sold-out nights in their hometown of Jacksonville, Florida, the latest DVD offering from Southern Rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd sees the group tackle their first two records – Pronounced Leh-Nerd Skin-Nerd and Second Helping in their respective entireties. While some groups strive for a sliver of the hits generated by the first two Skynyrd records, you can’t help but respect the timeless nature of tracks like “Tuesday’s Gone,” “Free Bird,” “Sweet Home Alabama,” “Gimme Three Steps,” “Call Me The Breeze,” “Simple Man,” and “Workin’ For MCA.” Although only guitarist Gary Rossington remains from the first incarnation of the band, the modern day Lynyrd Skynyrd sounds so impeccably close to the original group that they leave little room for questioning their continued relevance more than 40 years after getting their start.
