After more than 15 years away from Fleetwood Mac, Christine McVie re-joined her Mac bandmates – with the exception of the dynamic Stevie Nicks – in the studio as a means of getting reacquainted with one another after such a significant layoff. The sessions went so well that McVie and guitarist Lindsey Buckingham decided to forge ahead with the making of a duo album, which at its heart is a Fleetwood Mac album in all but name.
The record is impressively strong, touching on virtually all the same points of pleasure that fans have come to love about Fleetwood Mac over the last four-plus decades since they unleashed Rumours upon the world. Buckingham breathlessly guides album-opening track “Sleeping Around The Corner” into territory that is both fresh yet familiar; the same could be said for “In My World” and “Love Is Here To Stay,” while McVie sounds as absolutely timeless as ever on songs like “Red Sun,” “Too Far Gone” and “Feel About You.”
