In 1969, country music legend Johnny Cash began airing his namesake television series, hosting the likes of Bob Dylan, Waylon Jennings and more. It is that spirit that is the common thread that runs through Man In Black: Live In Denmark 1971. Cash kicks the show off with three songs, including “A Boy Named Sue” and “I Walk The Line” before he welcomes Carl Perkins to the stage to play “Blue Suede Shoes” and “Matchbox.” Later in the show, Cash welcomes the Statler Brothers, his wife June Carter Cash as well as the Carter Family for individual performances, before all of the acts reunite to end the show with a rousing version of “Children, Go Where I Send Thee.” Each of the performances heard here are timeless and provide an all too brief glimpse into a Johnny Cash live show during the first peak of his career.
