After having paid homage to the Gods of power pop on their debut effort, Jellyfish took a giant artistic leap forward with Spilt Milk, their sophomore record which also proved to be their final studio effort. While there remained pop elements running through many of the songs on the record, the album also embodies the grandiose classic rock of Queen, especially in the vocals and subsequent harmonies, most notably on “Hush,” “Brighter Day,” and “Joining A Fan Club.” With “The Ghost At Number One,” “Bye Bye Bye,” and “Too Much, Too Little, Too Late,” Jellyfish leaned more upon their pop influences, ultimately embracing their past while keeping one foot rooted in the present. In addition to a few live tracks, this deluxe reissue includes a treasure trove of demos as well as a great cover of Harry Nilsson’s “Think About Your Troubles.”
