Review: Headstones – One In The Chamber Music (Universal Music Canada)

HeadstonesA little more than a year after delivering their first studio record in more than a decade, Canada’s beloved Headstones return with a new take on some classic songs. One In The Chamber Music is a collection of a dozen fan-requested new acoustic-driven arrangements of catalogue favourites like “Tweeter and the Monkey Man,” “Three Angels,” “Smile & Wave,” “When Something Stands For Nothing” and “Cubically Contained.” While the Headstones are known as an uncompromising rock band, the acoustic format works well for the band and the songs, especially on “Cemetary,” with Hugh Dillon’s hushed vocals leading the way, lending a downright eerie feeling to the song.
