Considered by some to be a much-needed overhaul of the original 1975 release of The Basement Tapes, the latest addition to Bob Dylan’s ongoing Bootleg Tapes series features the iconic songwriter backed by the almost equally iconic The Band. This double-disc collection (also available in a comprehensive six-CD configuration) features a host of previously released material but is also a goldmine for alternate versions of some tracks as well as a wealth of previously unreleased material. Especially worth checking is the rollicking “All You Have To Do Is Dream,” their previously unreleased cover of Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues,” the bluesy “Get Your Rocks Off” as well as the poignant “I Shall Be Released.”
