Canadian punk-inspired band Billy Talent have come a long way in the 13 years since their debut record floored Canucks from coast-to-coast. Nowhere is that musical and personal growth more evident than in the 12 songs featured on the band’s fifth studio effort, Afraid of Heights. Arguably one of the band’s most concise efforts, Billy Talent still manage to pack a lot of punch in guitar-driven tracks like the title song, “The Crutch,” “Louder Than The DJ,” and “February Winds.” Alternately, with a song like “Rabbit Down The Hole,” the group trades in their rapid-fire guitar riffs in favour of a more melodic sound, which they have admittedly never been shy to show the world.
