Harnessing the power of their 2011 release Worship Music and ratcheting it up another couple of notches, Anthrax are poised for even greater things with their latest effort, For All Kings. The album, the group’s 11th studio outing, embodies the same thrash metal ideals that catapulted the band to international acclaim alongside Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth in the early 80’s. Perhaps ironically, some argue that this newest Anthrax record could be interchangeable with almost any of their albums released in the decade between 1985 and 1995, but in my opinion, that is what makes For All Kings such a great album: Anthrax is a band that has stayed true to the group’s original vision, delivering a classic, thrash-inspired record with many modern twists. Album highlights include “Evil Twin,” “Breathing Lightning,” “Blood Eagle Wings,” and “You Gotta Believe.”
