While R.E.M. were well known in an underground kind of way prior to 1987, R.E.M. were alternative when the term still held some value. Document would be the record to break them into the mainstream on the strength of singles including The One I Love and It’s The End of the World As We Know It. In addition to the original (remastered) Document album, this anniversary edition also includes a 1987 concert from Holland, some postcards as well as some expanded liner notes covering the crucial place of Document in the group’s history.
