Boasting a sound that is a lies comfortably in the realms of bluegrass and old time country, there is no way in hell that Oh My Darling’s sound would fly on what is deemed to be country radio these days. But that is perhaps what is most endearing about this all-female quartet. The lack of gloss and technology permeating the ten tracks on Sweet Nostalgia is refreshing to hear. The group’s relatively simple instrumentation of banjo, fiddle and bass mixed with their gorgeous harmonies makes for a potent mix of music that has the potential to be immensely popular here in Atlantic Canada. If you are a fan of Dixie Chicks’ record home, Oh My Darling will certainly be right up your alley.
