If you weren’t already aware (and in your defense, you might not be…), Sloan are one of the finest bands to emerge from Eastern Canada in the past 20 years. To celebrate the fact that they are still kicking, fans of the band including guys from Billy Talent, Jason Falkner (swoon!), Joel Plaskett, Butch Walker (swoon again!) among many others detail what Sloan has meant to them via a series of videos which are posted below.
If you haven’t already seen these, check ’em out. And for the love of God, if you haven’t already got a copy of the new Sloan record The Double Cross, pick yourself up a copy now. My review of the record will be posted tomorrow.
It seems as though Sloan are playing everywhere except Atlantic Canada over the next couple of months *cough cough* although I am sure that this is merely because they are saving the best for last.
And for the record, I am just joking about Sloan snubbing us anyway. I know that Atlantic Canada still means a great deal to them; they faithfully play here in support of every record and I expect that as we get closer to fall, we will see some dates in the Maritimes materialize. Personally, I can’t wait to see them again.
For those of you outside of Atlantic Canada, check out the list of dates on their site to see when and where they are playing near you and get your asses out to a show. Yes, this means you.
Congrats on 20 years, Sloan. You make this Maritimer all misty-eyed.
