In listening to the newest solo record from The Inbreds’ Mike O’Neill, it is hard to believe that eight years have passed since the critically acclaimed The Owl. Although he started writing this record in 2007, it is only now seeing the light of day. And what a lucky bunch we are to have such a great record. Backed by former Superfriend Charles Austin and drummer Mike Clattenburg , O’Neill’s sweet pop melodies sound as fresh and vital as ever. Drawing influence from power pop bands including Teenage Fanclub and Big Star, O’Neill’s uncanny ability to weave jangly pop guitar into something memorable can be found throughout the record.
