Lenny Kravitz has never been one to shy away from wearing his influences on his sleeve and on this, his ninth studio record, he wears those influences loud and proud. From the straight from the 70’s funk featured on the title track and Come On Get It, Kravitz indulges his obsession with all things retro to the max on Black and White America. It works well, like on the feel good clap along track Stand or rocker Rock Star City Life and results in a great listen. When he veers of course on tracks like the dreadful Liquid Jesus, you start to wish that he had put more time into focusing on quality over quantity of tracks.
