With influences including Stevie Ray Vaughan evident in his playing, Joe Bonamassa honors the best of the blues-rock genre before him with his newest record Dust Bowl. What makes this record so much more than a regular run of the mill blues album however is guest artists John Hiatt and Vince Gill, lending their talents to tracks Tennessee Plates and Sweet Rowena respectively and ultimately help Bonamassa honor the blues tradition but with a modern twist. Bonamassa capably shows that his guests that he is no slouch on his own though, bringing an incredible intensity to songs like Slow Train and No Love On The Street. There is a reason why Bonamassa was able to land a guest spot from BB King on his last full-length record; the man knows his guitar like so few seem to be able to master.
