Generation X’s own troubadour of words, Gord Downie of The Tragically Hip releases his third solo record. Tracks like The Dance and Its Disappearance and Gone will easily appeal to fans of the Hip. Downie’s willingness to look beyond the Hip “comfort zone” serves him well at times on songs like Moon Over Glenora and The Hard Canadian but leads to some meandering moments on other tracks like Broadcast. Like some of the Hip’s latest material, The Grand Bounce is tolerable but nothing outstanding by any means.
