Over the past three years, Gogol Bordello has been growing their fan base the old-fashioned way: touring. Produced by Rick Rubin, Trans-Continental Hustle is their major label debut and an interesting mix of music it is: gypsy-punk would probably be the best description for the band’s sound. Highlighted by vocalist Eugene Hutz, this 13 song record teems with boundless energy through rambunctious, theatrical moments like Immigraniada (We Comin’ Rougher) and Pala Tute. There is a sonic similarity running between many of the songs but none the less, Gogol Bordello gets full creative points for having such a unique sound in a day and age of so much lesser quality music being popular.
