Frank Ocean – Channel Orange (Universal Music Canada)

Does one of the year’s most anticipated albums live up to the hype? In my opinion, it does. Ocean, one of the members of the occasionally controversial Odd Future collective, delivers an outstanding collection of material on Orange, paying homage to the R&B greats that came before him. Ocean’s voice is hypnotic in some ways, recalling the smooth style of Marvin Gaye, which help to make for many outstanding moments on Channel Orange. Forget the hype; Ocean is the real deal, folks.
