If their 2007 record Time On Earth was the sound of a band in mourning after the death of drummer Paul Hester, Intriguer is the sound of a band finding their way out from the sorrow. In listening to Intriguer, you sense that it is the sound of a band looking forward while not forgetting where they came from. There is a delicate balance between the fun and the fond recollection to be heard: Opening track Saturday Sun and Inside Out are two of the record’s memorable upbeat moments while they show that they haven’t lost their ability to write killer ballads, illustrated here by Falling Dove and Elephants.
