It’s really a shame that Blink 182 will probably forever be stuck with the notion of being considered a potty humour band. But let’s face it, with the perspective of knowing what they were at one point in their career, it helps the listener appreciate Neighborhoods, the group’s first studio record in eight years, that much more. The unbridled energy contained in these ten songs is astounding to hear with drummer Travis Barker leading the charge. His relentless and unique rhythms that add an immeasurable amount of individuality to these pop-punk flavored songs. Though the group hasn’t completely abandoned their punk-inspired roots, the serious tones behind these tracks is surprising, endearing and should ultimately help them be recognized as some of the best work of their career.
