It has been a long lay off for fans of Gordie Johnson and Big Sugar. Revolution Per Minute marks the first new material from the band in more than a decade. Musical diversity was never a problem for Big Sugar and here, the band continues to effortlessly meld reggae and guitar-driven rock n roll into a rather unique mix. Fans looking for a guitar bombast courtesy of Johnson might be disappointed in what the record has to offer though. Johnson still capably flexes his muscle on the guitar however the record is not centred on his guitar work. Big Sugar seem to be more concerned with locking their music into the perfect groove on the record, as demonstrated on tracks like Little Bit A All Right, Roads Ahead and Work It Now.
